AGENDA for Tuesday, 22 June 2021
10:00 OPENING & KEYNOTE SPEECH
10:20 INSIGHTS INTO THE STEPS AND TOOLS YOU CAN USE TO TAKE YOUR EMISSIONS DOWN
Regulations, fines, investors pressure, corporate commitments or simply because it is the right thing to do, there are plenty of motivations to work on reducing your plant emissions. This session will take a 360° look at what we can do to help through emissions detection, combustion optimization and emissions monitoring & reporting. With this, you will be fully equipped to take scalable actions, getting tangible results at your industrial plant.
10:40 REDUCE INDUSTRIAL ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND AIM TOWARDS A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

The goals set by the European Union and the Government regulators to improve energy efficiency and consumption aren't attainable unless there is a significant contribution from industrial manufacturers. The time is now to strategically invest in your energy performance. Pinpointing where energy is being consumed, and where it could be saved, remains a challenge on many plants. Many undergo energy performance audits to identify energy saving programs. However, you cannot contribute to these programs unless you have the tools for better visibility into site energy performance, how to manage energy targets and share data with stakeholders.

During this presentation, we will discuss how process measurement data, as the foundation for energy management, feeds into an Energy Management Information System for reporting and monitoring of energy consumption, how improved control reduces energy usage and provides a significant cost ROI, and the net energy savings from improved site lighting solutions.

11:00 ALTERNATIVE FUELS DRIVING A SUSTAINABLE WORLD: THE HYDROGEN REVOLUTION

The global carbon footprint objectives drive investments in Decarbonization and Sustainability with an accelerated pace. We can see that Countries across Europe are moving to increase the mandated mix of biofuel. The Biomethane injection is an integral part of European Climate and Energy Strategy 2050. The Net Zero targets are being introduced by all major customers, and the Hydrogen in Europe’s energy mix is projected to grow.

During this session, discover more about our Emerson Solutions for Fuel Decarbonization: The Hydrogen Revolution, Sustainable Bio Approaches in Fuel, Bio Power, Bio Methane.

11:30 DRIVE ENERGY PERFORMANCE THROUGH IMPROVED CONTROL
Managing control poorly can result in increased energy consumption and emissions. Working out where to focus to make things better can be daunting, as can be working out how best to tackle the problems when they are found. Get insights into how this can be made easier and your staff empowered to improve your energy performance with the help of the new Guardian Loop Performance Dashboard and DeltaV Loop Service.
11:50 ADVANCED AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGY IN BIOMETHANE INJECTION INTO THE GRID

Biomethane presents a great new opportunity for Europe in terms of a low-cost, eco-friendly form of energy and the market for this product is growing rapidly. New regulations within many European countries not only enable biomethane to be added to the natural gas networks, but incentives are also available to increase the amount of biomethane added to the grid.

However, there are several challenges facing operators wanting to inject biomethane into the grid. They must comply with very stringent regulations and standards, deliver continued reliable, efficient and safe operations, and ensure there is lifecycle support for all plant assets. Advanced automation technology is enabling operators to win these challenges, maximizing biomethane production and guaranteeing the best performance of their plant, to take full advantage of a thriving new market.

12:10 LIMIT YOUR ELECTRICITY WASTE, GREENHOUSE EMISSIONS AND LIGHT POLLUTION

In this presentation, we will show you how much energy savings and carbon emission reduction you can achieve by switching to energy efficient LED technology and improve the results further with Connected LED technology through scheduling, programming and data collection from the LED luminaires.

Greenhouse emissions are not the only pollutant linked to the artificial light. Excessive and misdirected illumination can have adverse effect on the visibility of the natural night sky. We will explain to you the types of light pollution, essential guidance for dark sky compliance in Europe you need to follow and solutions that Emerson brings within dark sky friendly LED fixtures to significantly reduce lighting pollution and provide light only where it’s needed for your safe workplaces.

Deep Dive Room 2
11:30 DEEP DIVE INTO THE FUGITIVE EMISSIONS PROBLEM AND ASSOCIATED SOLUTIONS TO THE MANY LEAKING DEVICES
While it makes total sense to keep an eye on the accidental and sometimes massive fugitive emissions coming from gas or liquid leaks, another underlying area of focus is on the hundreds of small leakages coming from the many devices used on site. Valves, safety relief and tank equipment, because of their number, the obsolescence status and sometimes the lack of ownership can account for up to 85% of the fugitive emissions at a refinery. Proof tested sealing design, monitoring technologies and proactive installed base management are simple and impactful solutions to mitigate your fugitive emissions problem.
11:50 EMISSIONS MONITORING, CONTROL & OPTIMIZATION

Emissions monitoring systems are installed to demonstrate compliance with local environmental regulations. In addition to the traditional certified Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) we provide, Emerson continues to innovate applications, technology and software to help you monitor your emissions, improve your process control and improve your bottom line.

During this session, we will provide examples of applications and software that facilitate your emissions monitoring and control.

12:10 ACCELERATING THE TRANSITION TO HYDROGEN FUTURE
When operating in a relatively new market space such as renewable hydrogen, it is more important than ever to work with the right partner. Many suppliers have an expertise in particular areas of the process. Having one automation supplier that understands the whole process brings significant benefits. Particularly when they have a deep technical understanding of how their broad product portfolio impacts the performance of your plant across its whole life. Learn how Emerson can help you address your unique challenges and drive a reduction in complexity and an increased plant life cycle.
